we will be meeting at kristi's house starting between 7:15 and 7:30, i will be leading a devotion and then we will take time to share our prayers and praises.
hopefully we can make plans tonight about when & where we will meet for the remainder of the summer. we will take turns leading a devotion and spend time continuing to get to know each other before we return to a more structured study in the "fall"

please keep jajuan's family and the students and faculty at davidson in your prayers. this is a very sad situation. while it is a relief that no one else was physically harmed, there were many students who witnessed this young man killing himself.

a fun girls' weekend

Hey Everyone! Last Thursday it was decided it was time for another fun girls weekend. My mother has graciously agreed to donate a weekend at one of her timeshares.
We checked availability at Destin and New Orleans. New Orleans is totally booked for the next 60 days for a 2 bedroom. Destin has some availability.
So everyone bring your calendars Thursday or send me back an email of what weekends are good for you and I will compare and then send out the final selection.

we will be meeting at emily's house this thursday at 7pm. we will be discussing 1 peter 2 . since kristi will be out of town she has sent the following as questions to help us get started in our discussion.

Chap. 2 discussion questions:
-In the Message, verse one starts with "So clean house!" In your life, what things do you immediately need/want to clean out of your house? Imagine Jesus physically visiting you and going through each area of your life.
-Verse 11, "Friends, this world is not your home, so don't make yourselves at home." Do you feel the Kingdom coming soon? Is there a sense of urgency in your heart? Or do you feel like you've got all the time in the world to prepare for Jesus's second coming?
-Verse 25, "You were lost sheep with no idea who you were or where you were going. Now you're named and kept for good by the Shepherd of your souls." Share an "ah-ha" moment when your "lost" feelings were replaced by "belonging" feelings to God.

-will & nellie's girls, alyssa & emily, with their family situation
-keep jennifer and alissa in prayer with the beginning and ending of their respective pregnancies
-alissa's father-in-law had a minor stroke and is having some memory issues
-alissa & jeff are trying to find a home for a stray dog
-nellie's mother-in-law, christine, is having some health problems & the drs don't know what exactly is going on
-emily's mom's dog passed away
-daniel, bonnie's friend has some bad influences in his life
-kristi's mom with her physical problems & her spiritual health
-one of kristi's mom's-day-out teacher's dad passed away (jessica)
-molly & evan, a family going through a situation similar to what kristi & doug went through with caleb
-safe travel for doug
-alissa's sister-in-law's father (rick cox) has cancer & is under hospice care

we had a really great discussion this week & have been "encouraged" to come up with an "action point" (a way in which we will work on being more obedient to god, living more holy). i'm going to work on prayer.

prayer request

there is a lady i've met at work who has stopped by office several times to chat, she is really sweet and REALLY loves the Lord. she has a brother named Freddy who needs some prayers, my understanding is that he really has some issues especially with alcohol.

also, with mardi gras getting into swing let's keep alissa in our prayers (jeff will be working a lot and the baby is coming soon) along with all the revelers. also, the family of the 4 kids who were killed along with the sheriff's dept and volunteers who've helped look for the bodies. another lady i work with, ashley, needs prayers, she has a rather stressful job and quit smoking yesterday, she has been smoking almost 30 years.

First Meeting

We will have a first bible study of the new year today (January 10) at Emily's house at 7pm. We will be studying 1 Peter 1.

our first bible study had to be cancelled due to inclement weather and a couple of people who had to be out.

This blog has been set-up for the OPC Ladies' Koinonia group to be able to keep up with where we are in our study, share prayers/praises mid-week, and have discussion if something comes up in between our weekly meetings. For now you will just have to post things as comments, once I can find some kind of way for you to post otherwise, I'll let you know. In the mean time, I'll start with this
